Real Solutions for Homelessness

We have some clear challenges in the difficulty of homelessness. It affects all of the West Coast, our challenges are not unique. However, we must balance compassion in helping those in need with more aggressive policing and social programs. Trash, crime, violence, and decay is unacceptable. I’m collaborating with community leaders on creative solutions that deliver positive outcomes.

Deschutes County has been a leader in creating pathways off the street. We implemented the Stabilization Center, giving those experiencing crisis a front door to service. We must continue to find more solutions, focusing on the root causes, in a systematic, measured approach, not just throwing money at the issue.
